COVER ART | SPRING 2026
Our Cover Art for April 2026 is an artwork (acrylic on canvas )by Mizo artist Zomuanpuia.
The painting depicts a young Mizo girl in traditional attire. She wears a Vakiria on her head—a traditional headgear worn by Mizo women during festivals and Cheraw dances. The Vakiria is crafted from bamboo bands, Job’s tears (locally known as pingpih), parrot feathers, and beetle wings (Tlengtle thla). Around her neck, she wears a Thi Hna, a traditional Mizo necklace made of amber beads.
One of the most promising young talents in the bourgeoning art scene of Mizoram, Zomuanpuia was awarded the Young Talented Artistes Award 2025-26 by NEZCC under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
