COVER ART | SUMMER 2025
Our Cover Art for Summer 2025 Issue is a watercolour painting by Mizo artist Laltanpuia, owner and proprietor of Aizawl Art Gallery & School of Fine Art. The artwork was recently showcased at the artist’s 12th Solo Exhibition held in May, 2025 at his gallery. It now belongs to the private collection of MeanPepperVine Editor Ruati Chhangte (Tetei).
The painting depicts two women walking along a shaded forest path, returning home from the fields in the evening (feh haw). Each woman carries a traditional paikawng (bamboo basket) on her back, filled with fresh green vegetables, likely harvested from their jhum field. The scene is quintessentially Mizo, with the fading sunlight filtering through the trees along the narrow, unpaved path (feh kawng), the women’s traditional attire, and the surrounding greenery.
